Monday, April 11, 2022 –Parents and guardians whose children sat the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary KCPE examination can check selections through a simple SMS procedure or by visiting the Ministry of Education’s official website.
The over 1.2 million pupils who sat their exams in March this year can start checking their Secondary School placements so that to know requirements this early.
Magoha explained that candidates can send only their index number to 22263. Alternatively, they can also access their selection results on the ministry’s website www.education.go.ke.
He also confirmed that schools can access a complete list of their candidates’ Form One selection through accessing the National Education Management Information System Nemis portal.
The CS disclosed that a total of 38,797 candidates were placed in national schools, 214,960 in Extra County, 258,456 in county schools, 726,311 in Sub-county schools and 2,045 in special needs schools.
The Cabinet Secretary, however, noted that his office noticed that many pupils were not properly guided while selecting the schools.
He said pupils are being left to make their own choices what results in poor choice of schools and that this cannot entirely be blamed on his office; parents should play this role in conjunction with teachers.
The CS noted that his Ministry will work with the Ministry of Interior under the helm of CS Fred Matiang’i to ensure that all learners join secondary schools at the right time and that every learner should be allowed to join school without any interference.
He said, with the help of local administration, his office will monitor parents who are not taking their children to school so as to take action.
