How Uhuru allowed the Cabinet to task Ruto with questions on Thursday

Deputy President William Ruto was on the receiving end during a daylong cabinet meeting held on Thursday Oct 8th at Statehouse.

Reports which reached our Homenews.co.ke desk on Friday morning indicated how Mr. Ruto could not see peace as almost the entire cabinet scolded him for fighting the government in which he is the second in command.

The DP arrived in the meeting even as his supporters were engaged in running battles with police in a Nyamira function he was to attend.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

Sources privy to what happened throughout the meeting whispered to newsrooms that cabinet secretaries reportedly asked the DP to quit office if he was not ready to make their work easier.

A section of them including Dr. Fred Matiang’i and PS Karanja Kibicho said the DP was making their work very difficult by setting the public against them. They wondered why he had made them a punching bag in most of his public rallies.

They also sought to know why, just a day after Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua had issued guidelines on how public rallies should be undertaken, Ruto was already ignoring them by continuing to tour the country without notifications.

Chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the discussion majorly centered on the current rising political temperatures which they think is deliberately created by the DP’s constant campaigns under the Hustlers tag which seemingly is setting the youths against the rest of the country. it was described as ‘radicalization’ of the youths for 2022 purposes.

It is also reported that Ruto was put to task over the recent Murang’a skirmishes that saw two young persons lose their lives; what he responded saying he was not behind what had happened and that his tours across the country were meant to empower the youths and poor women contrary to what the State was thinking of him.

The Daily Nation of Friday further reported how the meeting was characterized by tense moments where the head of State allowed the cabinet to put hi deputy to task.

That the DP, on his part, had a very difficult time explaining himself what later saw him cancel his Nyamira meeting until next week.

And while reacting on the Daily Nation Headline of Friday October 9th, Ruto laughed at the news that the CSs had scolded him saying, “Who are the Cabinet Secretaries challenging? To do what? Hii itumiwe kufunga matumbo (this newspaper should be ignored and taken to butcheries for wrapping meat),” he responded.

Also present in the meeting is Cabinet Secretary without portfolio Raphael Tuju who has not been in good books with the DP.

He was also given a chance to field a few questions for Ruto to clarify.
