Monday, April 18, 2022 –Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has clarified the reason why he will not support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.
In his Kwale rally held on Sunday April 17, the tycoon made it clear that Ruto’s Hustler programme was a fraud visited on the poor Kenyans with intentions of making a few billionaires richer.
He stated that the current difficult economic situation in the country was purely created by the DP who had his man Henry Rotich at the helm of the National Treasury when the country started going to the dogs.
He therefore told his supporters that DP Ruto is not the correct antidote for the problems bedeviling the nation since he had a role in economic sabotage.
“Ruto is not a true hustler because his man (Rotich) is the one who oversaw the economic misdeeds that are currently burdening Kenyans.
“Mwai Kibaki left our debt repayment was Ksh10 out of every Ksh100 of revenue collected but President Uhuru Kenyatta has moved us to Ksh75 out of Ksh100 of revenue collected. He borrows every month to meet a budget deficit of Ksh90 out of Ksh100,” Wanjigi stated.
Wanjigi’s remarks came as a shocker to many because he was part of the special guests at the recently held UDA Delegates Convention of March 15.
During the event, Ruto used the opportunity to disclose unknown details about his friendship with Mr. Wanjigi.
“This man Jimi, I’ve told Kenyans of the merger between Uhuru and I in order to work together. At the time, there were only three people in that meeting; Uhuru, Ruto, and Jimi wanjigi,” he disclosed.
It is now not clear whether the businessman-turned-politician is planning to join Azimio coalition or not but he has insisted that he can still go it alone upto the ballot because he also has un -ironed trust issues with Mr. Odinga.
