“I am not resigning because of my son’s actions,” Kagwe hits back

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has finally responded to those calling for his resignation over son’s behavior.

Addressing a presser on Sunday August 9th, Kagwe downplayed any calls for him to resign saying actions by his children cannot be used to punish him.

He said anyone above 18 years, according to laws of land, can be held responsible individually and not through their parents.

This is after his Hiphop artist son Kahu Mburu Mutahi or Kahush was recorded partying with a number of fellow youthful friends with drinks scattered on tables around the room.

During their party, there was completely no observing social distancing as required by the Ministry of Health as part of reducing the pandemic spread.

And while answering questions fielded by journalists, Kagwe did not deny nor confirm the allegations saying those interested in having an accurate answer should instead follow his son wherever he is since he was an adult above 18 years and able to respond to his actions.

“On the issue you asked about my son, I do not have a son in my house who is less than 18 years old which means that they are adults, you can follow them and ask them,” explained Kagwe.

Kagwe had a day earlier been asked to resign by former Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale who had sought to know how the health CS son would break law without his father being held responsible.

Kagwe also weighed into the KEMSA corruption debacle saying, just like anyone else, he would want investigations to unearth with speed those behind the lawlessness at the parastatal.

“The issue at KEMSA, we have read the same things you have read, we are aware investigations are going on so it started long before I got there. So the issue of anybody asking me to resign is what is called a pipe dream and they can continue dreaming.

“I’m not even aware who that is, but you can tell them to dream on,” responded the Health Cabinet Secretary.

Khalwale and Nurses Union led by Sec Gen Seth Panyako had asked the CS to pave way for a new Cabinet Secretary citing his inability to run activities at the Health Ministry which is one of the most important departments in any government.
