Friday April 2, 2021 -I will not be vying for any political seat in Kiambaa Constituency. Citizen’s Francis Gachuri has stated.
Dispelling the rumours which had spread like wild fire around his home area Kiambaa, Gachuri on live Tv clarified that the posters which had been printed with his image and name came from unknown persons with ill motive.
The popular journalist was trying to respond to the posters which did rounds online on the eve of the Fools Day April 1.
While on their News Gang segement on Thursday, the renowned reporter at Citizen Tv said he has no political interest now or in future to venture into politics.
“I have been a son of this constituency for the last 39 years and I am extremely proud of my roots. We lost our MP Hon Paul Koinange who I deeply and sincerely respected. I condole with his family, relative and friends.
“Unfortunately, propagandists went on the overdrive and designed posters purporting I had declared interest in the vacant seat. How insensitive? The poster is classical fake news with an unknown motive. In Kiambaa, we do not celebrate death, we celebrate and value life,” Gachuri detailed.
The Reporter claimed that after the said posters went round on all major social media platforms, he started receiving too much phone calls from members of the public seeking further clarifications.
“I have the best job in the world which I do not intend to trade for any other. I am a journalist, not a politician and I do have no such desires. I do not intend to vie for any seat now or in the near future. The only election plan I have is to strive to provide the best coverage of the 2022 elections,” Gachuri elaborated on live Tv.
Kiambaa Constituency lost its Parliamentary representative Mr. Paul Koiange who was elected in 2017 on Jubilee ticket. Until his demise, he was the chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security.
