Thursday, June 23, 2022 –Nairobi Jubilee Party gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe has promised to improve on anything Mike Sonko started in the city as assign of respect to the ex-governor.
Speaking today Thursday June 23 in Nairobi, the corporate guru-turned-politician revealed how he would protect any past legacies of the city including Evans Kidero and Mike Sonko’s projects as long as they were for the public good.
He added that it would be unfair to go into office with a mentality of know-it-all and start destroying any thing started by the two past regimes in the guise of setting an example.
Mr Igathe further said Sonko was a good leader and politician whom he still respect because he taught him a lot on city politics.
“I highly celebrate Mike Sonko for having taught me politics and having brought me to the political scene. He is my friend and not my enemy. I am coming to serve for five years. If I was a coward, I would have decided not to run,” Igathe stated.
And speaking about his resignation from Sonko’s 2017 government, the Jubilee candidate who was by then serving as his deputy said it was done in good faith.
“I am a graduate of Mike Sonko’s institute of advanced political hindsight. I learnt something and I am not fresh. You do not learn things from success, you learn things from failure. Last time, I failed and went to collect myself and I am back,” he said.
The former Equity employee seized the opportunity to urge Nairobi residents to give him a chance of serving them this coming term and if he fails them they should not reconsider him again for office.
