Monday, June 20, 2022 –Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has promised to respect her boss Raila Odinga whether in power of out of power.
Appearing in an interview with various media stations today June 20 morning, the Mt Kenya politician noted that any president, whether good or bad, must be respected by his juniors and shouting at each other will not be her cup of tea when they take power.
She added that her role is solely to deputize Mr. Odinga and not to act as his co-president; what has failed many regimes in this country.
She urged their coalition members to respect each other as they forge ahead to take power from August 9 when elections will be conducted.
“My role is simple and that is to be Raila’s running mate. So, I will give him the respect he deserves, and likewise, he will do the same,” she promised.
Speaking about how she plans to solve issues whenever they have slight differences in opinion, Karua said closed door engagements will play a key role in ironing this out.
“If we have arguments, I will not be the type to talk evil of him. Sometimes, you may differ on opinions but such things are solved behind closed doors. The public wants results and no other theatrics,” Karua added.
Addressing the thorny historical fcat where she had to walk out of President Mwai Kibaki’s government, Karua clarified that she did so in a respectful manner instead of shouting and complaining every time like it is done today.
“I delivered on the job I was given. When I resigned I did so respectfully.
“I respect my captain Raila and I will never disrespect him or Kenyans. I am ready to work for Kenyans, I pray that God guides me on this one,” she mentioned to the media.
The Odinga running mate also promised that together with the entire team which will be serving in their government, they will work to tame corruption in all public sectors.
“We have fought this war on corruption before and with the right captains in office, the war shall be won.
“We will be watching over your money relentlessly, ensuring that resources meant for agriculture and other public benefit projects don’t end up in people’s pockets,” she went on.
Raila Odinga’s choice of Martha Karua from Mt Kenya has helped boost his chances of winning elections to held on August 9.
