ICC-Charged Lawyer Paul Gicheru Dies

Monday, September 26, 2022 –Renowned Kenyan Lawyer Paul Gicheru – famed for the International Criminal ICC case – has been found dead in his Karen Nairobi home.

The lawyer who was facing bribery of witnesses case at the ICC  was on Monday September 27 confirmed dead by family members.

Homenews.co.ke learnt that police officers had already arrived at his home to take charge of the scene even as the whole country waited for an official statement on the exact cause.

“Paul Gicheru was headed to bed after lunch. At dusk, his family was shocked he wasn’t up yet. Upon checking on him, they found foam coming out of his mouth, lying there dead. It’s alleged that his son was also taken ill and admitted. Doctors are monitoring him; Police OB report,” a source claimed.

Gicheru has for years been battling ICC charges of bribing and intimidating witnesses in the failed ICC case facing the now President William Ruto.

In his recent (June) submission in the court, the lawyer was on record asking judges to dismiss the case which he described as weak.

On the other hand, the prosecution side had called for a guilty verdict on all 8 counts that the lawyer was facing.

Then Deputy President William Ruto and lawyer Paul Gicheru at the ICC.

Defense side, however, maintained that their client was not guilty of the offenses and that the evidence provided in the court was cooked and weak.

The chamber is expected to issue its verdict on the matter.
