Saturday, February 19, 2022 –There was a standstill during the latest Kenya Kwanza political rally when Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah was confronted by locals for attacking an Azimio area legislator.

Ichung’wah had to switch topics after his attempts to badmouth Lari MP Jonah Mburu failed to yield.

Members of Kenya Kwanza during their Kiambu rally on Friday.

Residents clad in UDA Party yellow t-shirt could be heard shouting him down sad he struggled to make his point.

The MP, who was part of deputy president William Ruto’s entourage on Friday February 18, would finally be cut short.

While addressing, Ichung’wah digressed to talk about MP Mburu in an apparent attempt to disparage him for supporting Azimio la Umoja Movement led by ODM leader Raila Odinga, before residents told him to speak about something else because they still love their MP.

“Your area MP here is called Jonah and he is my friend and…,” Ichung’wah stated as the crowd immediately began chanting in Kikuyu dialect, “He is the one we want, we want him again.”

Mburu is among the Mount Kenya MPs who have remained loyal to the Handshake camp that brings together both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s leutenants. This is despite majority of leaders having moved with the DP into UDA.

The DP and his brigade of ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula pitched tent in Kiambu on Friday where they held a series of rallies and stopovers.

This is happening even as word has it that the head of State is planning to kick start a charm offensive against his deputy in an effort that will see Ruto completely vanquished from Mt Kenya.
