Tuesday, April 4, 2023 –Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah now says President William Ruto will not be meeting with the opposition leader Raila Odinga for anything to do with working together.
Confirming to their disgruntled voices in the United Democratic Alliance UDA, on Monday April 3, the majority leader assured them that their boss was not thinking of entering into any form of Handshake with the opposition.
He reasoned that the only discussion that is there will be between Members of Parliament MPs and not with Raila Odinga who is outside Parliament.
“I can confirm to you that there is absolutely nothing close to a Handshake. The president has not, leave alone meeting, spoken to the opposition boss Raila Odinga. Further, leave alone a Handshake.
“Therefore, nothing touching on Handshake. It’s strictly a by-partisan approach that will capture the interest of the nation not individual interests,” he explained.
The Kikuyu lawmaker also sent bad news to certain quarters already excited of the Handshake that there is completely nothing of that sort in Ruto’s mind.
The majority leader also added that, during any discussion to take place in Parliament, he will take full charge of the exercise so that those with ill intention of veering off the issues don’t get that latitude to introduce other matters into the key agenda.
Ichung’wah was speaking this through a recorded video clip which he shared with supporters on his social media accounts on Monday April 4.
