Sunday, January 23, 2022 –Vocal Deputy President William Ruto ally Kimani Ichung’wah has warned against picking UDA’s running mate from outside their Mt Kenya Region.
MP Ichung’wah who has reportedly threatened to ditch the Hustler camp should Ruto welcome Musalia Mudavadi with an intention to make him his running mate said United Democratic Alliance has to have a deputy from Central Kenya; and anything short of that could lead to mass walkout.
Speaking on Sunday January 23 at AIC Ilmaasin, Kajiado West, Kajiado County, the outspoken MP hinted at abandoning Ruto if he chooses Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader, Musalia Mudavadi to be his running mate in the August polls.
Ichung’wah said DP Ruto had no other option other than to choose a man from their vote rich Mt. Kenya Region since it is the region that has shown full interest in UDA Party and its leadership ideologies.
The MP spoke after claims that the second in command was plotting to make Mudavadi his preferred running mate even as recent polls indicated that Mathira legislator Rigathi Gachagua was the best person to be the deputy.
Mudavadi has, however, remained noncommittal on whether he will be joining the second in command to help push him through the finish line.
