Sunday, October 31, 2021 –Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga has endorsed Westlands Member of Parliament Timothy Wanyonyi for Nairobi Gubernatorial seat 2022.
Ida made the pronouncements on Saturday October 30 in which she indicated that her thorough scrutiny of all the aspirants had landed her on Tim brother to Moses Wetang’ula. She further stated that Tim makes the best candidate to breath life back into the city after several failed leaderships both from Mike Mbuvi Sonko and Evans Kidero who has since moved to vie in Homa Bay County.
In her fairly long written statement, the almost to be first lady courageously stated that Tim is like her elder son who has a vision for Nairobi City.
“We will ensure that we support him so that he becomes the next Nairobi governor in the 2022 general election under the Orange Democratic Party (ODM)” Ida said.
On his part, MP Wanyonyi indicated that his track record in Westlands Constituency now allows him to take over the entire city.
He took to his Twitter Handle to urge Nairobi residents to give him a chance to showcase his versatile leadership skills for the people of Nairobi County.
“Ladies and gentlemen, while I have made huge efforts and contributions to uplifting the lives of our people in Westlands Constituency for over 15years, I now have a bigger calling- to become the Governor of Nairobi County in 2022,” MP Wanyonyi said.
Tim also disclosed that he will be running on an ODM Party ticket which will be a big boost to his career since the Odinga’s have a great influence in Nairobi County politics.
The MP will be facing off with other established political heavyweights among them former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, businesswoman Agnes Gakure and acting Governor Anne Kananu.
