Tuesday, June 7, 2022 –Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, has today been cleared by the electoral body to run for Kakamega gubernatorial seat.
While presenting his papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC today Tuesday June 7, Mr. Malala said he had gone through the process smoothly and every paper he presented for clearance was proved to be authentic.
“I got a B, not a D as circulated by our detractors. Showing my papers to IEBC. It’s now all systems go as we get the nod to run for Governor Kakamega County.
Similarly, Nairobi’s United Democratic Alliance UDA candidate Johnson Sakaja was also cleared to contest for the seat.
This is after it took him over six hours to get cleared following discrepancies in his academic papers which some had claimed were fraudulently acquired.
And speaking after presenting the documents, Sakaja assured Nairobi residents that his government will work to bring back sanity into the city.
“Nairobi residents should avoid looking at tribe when voting. Let’s vote for leaders who have the interest of Nairobi at heart,” Sakaja said.
He also exuded confidence that he will bring victory home on August 9 when polls will be called off.
“Our march is unstoppable, our faith unshakeable and our victory is inevitable. We must make Nairobi work
“We must restore our city back to its former glory by offering our people order, dignity, hope and opportunity for all,” he noted.
This was happening even as Safina Presidential Candidate Jimi Wanjigi was complaining about delays in his clearance.
