Monday, August 30, 2021 -Police have started hunting down money laundering criminals around Nairobi and Mombasa areas. Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai has said.
Speaking amid increased reports on currency fraud which many young men and women are today involved in, the police boss promised to bring this to an end saying already many suspects had been arrested and are helping police in further investigations.
Mutyambai added that the sad situation is being handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI’s Serious Crimes Protection Unit(SCPU).
“We are aware of this and we have arrested and arraigned several suspects on the same. We also have a unit under DCI that deals with serious crime and continues to arrest perpetrators,” Mutyambai said.
He also seized the opportunity to advise young men and women to stop the culture of making quick money through the get-rich-quick schemes which he described as illegal and punishable.
He was reacting to an investigative post recently made by Blogger Edgar Obare who listed a number of celebrities and politicians dealing in the now popular Wash Wash enterprise.
