Wednesday, July 20, 2022 –Popular polling company in the country has responded to claims from members of the public that it pulled down the Gachagua-Karua online poll because their ‘favourite’ had lost.
Infotrak put up a poll seeking to know the individual performance of each candidate (Gachagua and Karua) in the Tuesday July 19 night debate; and after about 40 minutes of public responses, Gachagua seemed to be winning against Azimio’s Karua.
“Who is your preferred presidential running mate,” the poll which put Gachagua at 61.8 percent against Karua’s paltry 29.1 percent had asked.
However, the question would shortly be pulled down creating a public uproar with members of the public claiming the move to delete it was due to the fact that Karua had already lost to Gachagua, by a big margin.
“That @Infotrakltd deleted these results from their handle goes to confirm their fake and vague Infotrak polls. Why get embarrassed with reality that goes against what you have all along been parroting against Gachagua, others. You can’t cage the truth for too long,” Stephen Mutoro commented.
But in their sharp response, Infotrak has said that the Twitter poll had been invaded by thousands of bots and when they noticed this phony behavior, they quickly had to act by deleting it from the public.
The Chief Executive Officer, Angella Ambitho, has explained that there was no any mischief from their part and that polls carried online lack integrity because they are never safe and lack science logic.
“When we did this Twitter poll we realized there were bots and we decided to pull it down. A Twitter poll is not scientific but it can give a gauge of what Twitter users think,” she said.
The pollster has since started another scientific poll whose results will be made public, sooner.
