Friday, October 20, 2023 – Six people got injured in a stampede at Kericho Green Stadium as they rushed to get in ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

Long queues were also witnessed outside the Stadium this morning as Kenyans turned up in large numbers for the 60th Mashujaa Day celebrations to be graced by President William Ruto.

A news source reported that, at least, 6 persons including a minor had been injured in the early morning stampede as they rushed to get in ahead of the Mashujaa fete.

The stampede happened at the stadium’s Gate C as thousands of residents rushed to enter the venue as early as 1 AM.

The 6 who were injured were rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital for treatment.

Kericho is among the William Ruto’s strongholds whose residents voted overwhelmingly for the Kenya Kwanza wing.
