Friday, December 17, 2021 –Major media houses in the country are covering Deputy President William Ruto more than anyone else. Data has emerged.
In a well-researched report titled Media Report Card availed on Friday December 17, and which was prepared by a local online media channel, Citizen TV, Inooro TV, TV47, NTV, and KTN News allocated more prime time coverage to Deputy President William Ruto than the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, in the third quarter of the year 2021.
The notes in the report detailed how the top six 2022 presidential aspirants were covered in the 7PM and 9PM (Prime Time) TV news and William Ruto emerged top followed by opposition leader Raila Odinga in that order.
The six are Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-Kenya).
The researcher took time to look into electronic, online(YouTube and websites) and print coverage done from July to September 2021. The report also relied on time allotted to the front runners.
It was established that the six contestants were allocated a whopping 2,332.36 minutes of prime time coverage.
This report therefore reinforces the fact that Dr. William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance UDA Party makes the most popular political formation in the country so far followed by Raila Odinga nadf his ODM Party.
Currently, Ruto scores 30 percent popularity trailed by ODM Party leader Raila Odinga who is enjoying a paltry 16 percent popularity according to the latest TIFA report.
