Wednesday, October 16, 2024 –Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has today met with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Capitol Hill Nairobi.
In a statement issued on Wednesday October 16, Kang’ata shared a rare photo standing and shaking hands with Mr. Odinga.
He indicated that he had a good time keeping an invitation from Mr. Odinga who joined their government months ago in what is referred to as a ‘broad-based formation’.
“The Right Honourable former Prime Minister Raila Odinga invited me this morning for consultations. We had a good discussion on national cohesion and the progress we have made as a country under devolution,” he started.
Irungu who is the first time governor Murang’a County is UDA-elected governor and a close ally of President William Ruto.
He has widely been speculated to be a Statehouse preference for the deputy president job in the event Rigathi Gachagua is ousted through the ongoing motion of impeachment.
This meeting was taking place as President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi were attending Inua Biashara MSME Exhibition at KICC, Nairobi, amid DP Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment trial at Senate.
