Monday, August 1, 2022 –Lang’ata Constituency candidate Felix Odiwuor popular by stage name Jalang’o has accused the incumbent, Nixon Korir, of land grabbing.
Speaking in their parliamentary debate held on Sunday night July 31, Jalang’o went for Korir’s jugular tasking him to explain why he wanted to rob the public land at Uhuru Gardens.
The ex-Kiss 100 morning presenter went ahead to caution the outgoing MP against land grabbing behavior because this will not be tolerated when he takes over and urged him to hand back any piece of land before August 9.
“The current MP is accused of having grabbed land, and this is something that is in the public where he was part of a team that was at Uhuru Gardens where he was running his premises,” Jalang’o said in the debate.
Korir, however, described Jalango’s claim as ‘social media-oriented’ and which have no basis on the real issues affecting the constituents.
“Those are just jokes, those are bloggers’ business, we are not here to discuss bloggers’ business, I don’t have any case in court, this is just a campaign strategy,” Korir responded.
MP Korir defended that he had personally written to the National Lands Commission (NLC) and the Ministry of Interior on plans by some individuals to grab public land near the Carnivore Grounds.
The Uhuru Garden land has been at the center of controversy with President Uhuru Kenyatta having also accused a powerful State officer of planning to grab it away.
Comedian Jalang’o and MP Korir are among five candidates vying for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat.
