Monday, August 23, 2021 -Former President Mwai Kibaki’s son Jimmy Kibaki has promised to support Raila Odinga for the top seat.
Defending his decision, the businessman took issue with Ruto’s way of conduct saying chest thumbing was the weirdest character which Ruto had shown his boss Uhuru Kenyatta what therefore won’t allow him to get any support from the outgoing head of State.
He argued that the same fate that befell Odinga in the past elections will face Ruto since the latter had become an indiscipline case in Jubilee Government.
“Politicians don’t mean what they say; they just say things to flatter us…There were a lot of sideshows. They then started seeing the 2005 referendum as an opportunity to settle scores, not an opportunity at Constitution-making.
“Had they seen it that way, I think history would have been very different, but they decided to fight my father.
“When you decide to fight a president, he’s not going to take it lying down,” Jimmy recounted in an apparent warning to DP William Ruto.
Jimmy now argues that if given a chance to pick between Raila and Ruto he would definitely go for the former whom he describes as a nationalist with country’s interest at heart.
