Friday, August 13, 2021 -Nairobi business mogul Jimmy Wanjigi has exuded confidence of trouncing his party leader Raila Odinga in their party primaries.
Speaking today Friday August 13 afternoon, Mr. Wanjigi who is a known live member in ODM Party, claimed that he has all that it requires to become the next president and that he is sure of winning the upcoming ODM nominations.
“I’m confident I will defeat him because the delegates are a representation of Kenya. ODM is a national party, it does not belong to anybody, it belongs to the people of Kenya. I’m confident I will defeat him,” Mr. Wanjigi told the press.
Though Odinga is yet to open his mouth over his candidature, Wanjigi stated that should he want to, then he is welcome in the ring for a befitting defeat.
“It is Hon. Raila Odinga’s democratic right as every Kenyan to stand for the ticket of ODM to be a presidential candidate. I welcome the challenge. As of now, he has not declared but I welcome the challenge,” he added.
In ODM Party alone, three candidates made public their intentions to vie for the top seat among them Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Mombasa’s Ali Hassan Joho and business tycoon Jimmy Wanjigi. Of the three, Oparanya seems to have toned down and has since promised to back Raila.
Presidential aspirants in ODM Party parted with a whopping sh 1 million each to be able to be cleared for primaries.
