Saturday, August 27, 2022 –Juliana Cherera has filed her response at the Supreme Court in which she has adversely implicated her boss Wafula Chebukati in the August 9 bungled election.
Apart from running the electoral body IEBC as his own personal property, Chebukati was also a dictator who ran the show with a few accomplices in the commission with an aim of making sure his preferred candidate wins by all means possible.
In her compelling affidavit now with the Supreme Court, the vice chairman revealed that Chebukati started planning to rig this election way back before the election materials arrived in the country.
That together with her fellow dissenting colleagues, Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi, they had to endure pain of office isolation in matters concerning the running of the commission.
Further, they came to learn about tenders after they had already been awarded out to Chebukati’s preferred entities.
“All along, the Commission had always been aware that only one Form 34A was in be used for recording the presidential results at the polling centers.
“However, on July 21 2022 when commissioner Wanderi and I visited Lykos Hellas to inspect the printing of Presidential Ballot Papers, we were informed that orders had been given for the printing of two sets of Forms 34A, Form 1 of 2 and Form 2 of 2,” she blasted in her affidavit which she has deposited with the court.
And when the time to prepare and announce the presidential results at the Bomas came, Chebukati quickly changed roles among the commissioners where many of them ended up not being able to participate in the overall tallying.
“Masit, who chairs the legal committee, was placed in charge of hospitality which covered logistics and security while Nyangaya, who chairs the ICT committee, was assigned protocol (receiving VIPs) yet technology was central to the election process,” Cherera went on to say.
Eventually, Chebukati would emerge again with already-prepared presidential figures which he wanted them to sign without verifying.
And when they asked to check how the numbers had come about, their chair became ungovernable and finally went on to hand William Ruto the victory certificate.
Her affidavit mirrors that of his colleague Mr Justus Nyangaya who in his affidavit, said despite being in the ICT department, he ended up being rendered powerless as the results started streaming in.
He disclosed that some foreigners infiltrated IEBC system and continued manipulating Form 34As as they came in.
