Kajiado County 7th to approve BBI

Wednesday, February 17 2021 -Kajiado County now joins the growing list of counties passing the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Bill; just a day after West Pokot sailed it through.

Clamour to change the Constitution continues gain momentum as Counties add on the rising number of those in support of the Constitution of Kenya [Amendment] Bill 2020.

Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay have also approved the Bill and forwarded their minutes to the Senate. Only Baringo County rejected the Bill. There was witnessed chaos on the floor between the rival camps of Gideon Moi and William Ruto.

According to threshold requirement, only 24 out of 47 County have to endorse the Bill and the Referendum stage will be realized. And now that seven counties have already approved, this now means the pro-BBI team only requires 17 more to seal the fate of those opposed to the changes.

Kajiado County Assembly becomes the 7th County to pass the BBI Bill unanimously.
