Monday, September 12, 2022 –Kakamega Deputy Governor, Ayub Savula, has made a sharp about-turn over the Sunday viral clip showing him demand equal responsibilities with his boss Fernandes Barasa.
In a follow up statement seen by Homenews.co.ke, Mr. Savula, former Lugari Constituency Parliamentary representative, distanced himself from the clip which he has termed as old clip recorded during his campaign period and that he is still a loyal deputy governor to Fernandes Barasa; not ready to sabotage his plans.
He has since described the video clip as a fabrication and which was meant to cause a political rift between him and his boss Mr. Barasa.
“I WAS MISQUOTED. I did not say that I am a co-governor. The clip doing rounds on social media are not current. They were recorded during the campaigns. The Constitution is clear. @BarasaFernandes is the governor of Kakamega, and I (Savula) is his loyal deputy. @NationAfrica,” he updated on his social media on Monday evening.
In the contested clip, Mr. Savula was captured pressing for a co-governor position saying he must share the same appointment positions equally with Governor Barasa.
Before this clip, he was captured in a previous video recording saying he was forced to join Raila’s Azimio and that he is going to work with Kenya Kwanza team going forward.
