Monday, March 14, 2022 –Wiper Democratic Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka has blamed Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu for the delay that ensued during the Azimio-OKA agreement signing on Saturday March 12 at KICC.

Making the revelations in an event held in Theikuru at Theikuru Technical Training Institute in Kitui County on Sunday March 13, Kalonzo exposed Governor Ngilu as the impediment block in his agreement with the ODM Party leader Raila Odinga. He claimed that Ngilu had tried hard to prevent Raila from signing the papers.

“Our negotiations with Azimio took long because of Governor Ngilu who had accompanied Odinga to the negotiations table.

“I was accompanied by KANU Chairman Gideon Moi. Ngilu didn’t want anything to do with the Azimio-OKA grand coalition. She kept telling Raila not to sign into the deal,” he stated.

His claims were, however, not substantiated with facts on how he thought Ngilu was involved as a stumbling block in the whole process.

Musyoka who seemed to be not happy with the Sunday story carried in the Daily Nation on how he delayed signing the document keeping the event long, noted that he was ready to put pen to paper while, on the other side,  Odinga was not ready due to internal factors.

“They didn’t want Kalonzo to benefit from anything. They didn’t want to hear about Azimio-Oka. That is the truth,” Kalonzo stated.

And weighing on the matter, a source said Ngilu and Kalonzo did not have any hard feelings to each other only that the latter wanted to set the record straight and get absolved from the Saturday long delay blame.

Earlier, reports from the media indicated that Mr. Kalonzo demanded to only sign the agreement as an equal partner in the coalition.
