News anchor at KTN Ken Mijungu has come out to explain why Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the one delaying nomination of IEBC selection panel.
In his statement in a video clip shared on X on Thursday December 2, Mijungu detailed what he knows about what exactly transpired leading to a stalled IEBC selection exercise.
“Kalonzo Musyoka is the one delaying the IEBC selection panel. It’s Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is responsible for the ongoing delay,” Mijungu remarked without doubt.
He asked Mr. Musyoka to prove him wrong on this saying, passing the back to anyone else and not Musyoka could be a misundetanding.
First, he stated that there is one Boniface Njogu who is challenging the list of eight because the panel had nine. Mijungu said Njogu argued in his court papers that there was no balance in the list because persons with disability were not represented.
And secondly, the amended IEBC Principle Act wants other sectors and political parties also represented and this saw the ruling coalition Kenya Kwanza and Azimio each produce one to the panel.
And in the process, Wiper leader kalonzo Musyoka nominated Koki Muli but there was a dispute over Wiper producing a member when Azimio had already been represented as a coalition by someone else.
A Subcommittee would then be formed to look into this under the political parties’ liaison committee kind of arrangement which agreed that affiliate parties within Azimio should produce the last member nominee to this selection panel.
Azimio agreed to hold an election but on a day before the scheduled election, Kalonzo managed to convince other parties to favour Koki Muli but during the elections, Koki Muli lost to Augustine Muli and Kalonzo rushed to the court.
