Friday, November 12, 2021 –Raila Amollo Odinga today pitched camp in Kalonzo Musyoka’s backyard where he was received by all Ukambani governors who pledged to throw weight behind his presidential bid.
Reports have it that the Wiper Party leader who is unable to galvanize his stronghold boycotted the meeting even after ODM Party leadership asked him to be present. His fellow Ukambani leaders also reached out to him so that he could be part of the ongoing Azimio la Umoja meetings but he instead chose to give it a wide berth.
He had earlier vowed never to play second fiddle to Raila saying his eyes are only focused on the big seat.
Raila on Friday November 12 met with leaders from counties Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni in Wote town before he addressed political rallies in Wote and Emali towns where crowds emerged in mammoth figures.
“I will sit with delegates from the three counties and use the opportunity to get their ideas. I am looking for partners and not followers,” said Raila.
Speaking on a local radio station dubbed Mbaitu FM in Ukambani area, Mr. Odinga and area governors pledged to work together so as to maintain President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy beyond 2022.
“The Kamba people have space to bring change in this country and that is why I want to work with them,” said Raila on Mbaitu FM.
According to his itinerary, the ex-premier will be continuing with his Azimio la Umoja campaigns in the Lower Eastern part of the country for a few more days.
