Kalonzo Withdraws From Running Mate Contest

Chrispen

Tuesday, April 26, 2022 –Wiper Democratic Party has officially pulled out of running mate contest for Raila Amollo Odinga.

Ceding ground over the subject, the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party has released a statement in which they have clarified that they will no longer make tough demands in Azimio so that to give Raila Odinga time to organize his house and choose whoever he thinks could make him win August 9 contest.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka arrive during the ordination ceremony of 10 Bishops of the ministry at the revelations city in Mwingi West.

Kalonzo’s confidant, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, has said that they had now resolved to keep silent and wait to see who Raila will pick.

“For us where we have come as Wiper, a firm decision has been taken. Going forward you will not hear us pushing anyone to give us any position.

“We shall let the presidential candidate choose the person he believes will help him win the presidency because the burden is with him,” he told KTN News on Monday, April 25.

He, however, added that they will be releasing their final statement immediately after Odinga names his running mate.

He argued that for them they still believe that Kalonzo fits that bill and he should be given the chance but the onus to pick the running mate in Azimio remains with the last man Mr. Odinga.

“In Wiper Party, we know about our strength. Politics is a game of numbers. The numbers within our fraternity are close to three million votes,” the Senator explained.
