Thursday, July 6, 2023 –A young Kenya Defense Forces KDF officer Maurice Aminda Otieno, lost his life while on duty in Garissa County.
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma shared the photo of the fallen gallant army officer who, together with colleague,s were blown off while traveling in an official vehicle headed for their routine patrols.
Maurice, according to Kaluma, died on June 13 alongside colleagues after their car ran over an Improvised Explosive Devise IED at Ijara area, Garissa.
Mourning the soldier who happen to come from his Constituency, Kaluma asked the family to remain strong during this difficult period.
“Homa Bay Town Constituency has lost Soldier Maurice Aminda Otieno, KDF of Ngere Village, Katuma, West Kanyada location. Maurice died on 13.6.23 with several colleagues when the vehicle they were traveling in ran over an improvised explosive device in Ijara, Garissa County,” he mourned.
The ODM elected MP also promised to support the beavered family give the young fallen soldier a befitting send off.
This development is coming at the time Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki is mulling over reopening of the volatile Kenya-Somalia border over increased terror attacks in the country.
Kindiki has since postponed the reopening of the porous border until that time their government will be sure on how to handle Somali militants who are crossing over to cause havoc in the country.
