Monday, October 23, 2023 –Member of Parliament MP Kanini Kega has exposed Kenya Kwanza government over false promises.
In his interview at Inooro Tv today Monday October 23, MP Kega claimed that the current regime ought to apologise to Kenyans over its failed governance skills.
He has asked President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to stop blaming previous governments and, instead, come out boldly to tell Kenyans that what they had promised cannot be delivered anytime soon.
The East African Legislative Assembly EALA MP who was speaking during an interview with Inooro asked the government to apologise, claiming that telling people the truth will help prepare the country ahead of a long difficult time.
While revisiting the handshake debate, Kega categorically stated that the Uhuru-Raila handshake had nothing to do with the current economic problems in the country.
He also said the current Russia-Ukraine war cannot be the cause of the current difficult economic environment in Kenya.
Kega pointed out that this government has to have a solution on the deteriorating shilling and the news that Kenya was being left behind by countries like Uganda and Tanzania despite Kenya having been an economic powerhouse in East Africa for many years.
“Our biggest trading partner is Uganda. We used to export a lot to Uganda. Most of the companies were producing their products in Kenya later selling them to Uganda, but speaking today, most of the companies have shifted, they are now producing products in Uganda and then bringing them to Kenya thus affecting the balance of trade.” Kega said.
The former Kieni MP warned that the current deteriorating economy in Kenya will drive away many companies to Tanzania and Uganda.
He also took issue with Ruto for appointing Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria in the critical Trade docket saying the latter had messed things up instead of helping.
He, therefore, called upon the new Trade CS Rebecca Miano to put in place measures to that will help improve activities around the East African trading market.
The EALA MP said the current attempts by President Ruto to prove to the public that the shilling will be strengthened soon was another flat lie according to the latest dollar-shilling index.
