Karua Furious at Ruto’s Early Leadership Style

Friday, August 19, 2022 –Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has raised an alarm over the increasing culture of party hopping immediately after the general election.

Speaking this in Nairobi today Friday August 19 afternoon, Ms Karua was captured warning the outgoing deputy president that he should respect the rule of law as it is stipulated in the Political Parties Act.

She reminded him that time to start oppressing Kenyans through an iron-fist kind of rule was long gone and he should respect other political formations for checks and balances.

“His (Ruto) true colors are showing; lack of respect for the rule of law and a deficit of democracy in his actions… It is premature for somebody to start trying to disorganize political parties unlawfully,” Martha Karua observed.

The ex-Constitutional Minister described this culture as a total lack of respect for other politicians even before he(Ruto) was duly declared and sworn into office.

Karua further noted that if he(Ruto) was already buying and disorganising small parties in the country, what if he finally becomes the commander-in-chief.

She, therefore, urged the DP to reduce speed and appetite for power awaiting official Supreme Court’s verdict on who really won the August 9 election.

Her sentiments echoes that of many other leaders across the country who today wondered how fast Ruto was swallowing political parties around the country even before he is officially handed the instruments of power by his predecessor.

On Thursday August 18, along with Mandera governor-elect Mohamed Khalif, outgoing Mandera County Governor Ali Roba of United Democratic Movement UDM Party were received into the fold by Dr Ruto at his Karen residence, Nairobi.

Ruto would then take a veiled swipe at his Azimio la Umoja rivals saying soon the coalition could remain just an empty shell.
