Tuesday, May 17, 2022 –Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance running mate Martha Karua today made her first visit to her village home just a day after she was unveiled to be the running mate in Azimio ahead of August 9 polls.
Karua who was accompanied by scores of other leaders from Mt. Kenya was seen making several stop-overs to wave at supporters who were eagerly waiting to see her after the successful Nairobi political event held at Kenyatta International Convention Center KICC where Presidential candidate Raila Amollo Odinga unveiled her as his preferred principle assistant.
On arrival in Kirinyaga today Tuesday May17, Karua could be seen atop her car leading praise and worship songs before addressing her supporters who had thronged the market and roadsides to receive her.
She addressed them in her complete Kikuyu dialect being a tactic she will be applying throughout her campaigns to sell Raila Odinga around her Central Region.
At KICC when she had been nominated, the former Constitutional Minister assured the country that she will work diligently to make sure the country recovers back to normalcy.
She also promised her boss, Raila Odinga, a professional loyalty so that to meet the expectations of every Kenyan as enshrined in the Constitution.
On the other hand, Odinga lauded the vocal politician for having an unmatched ability to lead this country in the capacity of a deputy president.
“For the first time in the history of our republic history is calling us to close the gender gap in our republic. History to recipient the struggle of our women. History is calling us to introduce our first women Deputy President, “Raila said.
Ms Karua is a former justice minister from Central Region, which is seen as a key battleground in the August 9 election.
She unsuccessfully ran for presidency in 2013.
