Tuesday, March 7, 2023 –Kenya Defence Forces KDF officers had to quickly take over after a police reservist sustained a gunshot wound from Bandits who were headed to Korkoron Hills with more than 200 heads of cattle.
Reports reaching Homenews.co.ke on Tuesday March 7 indicated that the armed bandits went on the offensive against the joint police-military operation in the North Rift on Sunday, March 5, after army officers KDF started flashing them out of their hideouts.
The officers decided to start using bombs and, as tension built up, criminals in the bandit-prone region emerged to retaliate.
Baringo County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa confirmed the daytime attack that saw bandits raid Seretion Village in Mochongoi Ward, Baringo South Constituency.
“There were raids which were not so good to just look at. But no worry everything is under control,” he confirmed to the media.
Residents in the area reported presence of heavy military helicopters dropping bombs on the bandits’ hideouts in Kalemng’orok.
The security forces in the area included the National Police Service NPS, the Kenya Defence Forces KDF and National Police Reservists NPR under the banner of ‘Operation Komesha Uhalifu North Rift’.
The development came in the wake of escalating tension as hostile communities fought for grazing territory and dwindling water sources for their livestock hence the chaotic and bloody situation.
