Thursday, February 16, 2023 –New Secretary General Jubilee Party Kanini Kega has taken over Jubilee Party headquarters and at the same time issued stern warning to his embattled predecessor, Jeremiah Kioni.
On Wednesday February 15 afternoon, Kega led a team of the new interim officials into the building and warned that, going forward, the party will remain in their hands.
Others who accompanied him are Eldas MP Adan Keynan and nominated lawmaker Sabina Chege.
From yesterday, heavy security remained surrounding their offices so that to prevent any clashes that could start between the Kega and the Kioni teams.
Kega has said that they are going to support the ruling government no matter what and that those who think they are not in order should pack and leave.
“From today we will be operating from here because the Office of Registrar of Political Parties ORPP acknowledged that the restructuring of the party was constitutional.
“We will immediately start the disciplinary process for suspended members Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe,” the acting SG said in a statement.
He added that the disciplinary process will be fair to the Kioni-led faction and, therefore, have nothing to fear.
“We will conduct a proper audit of all the activities that happened before, during, and after the elections.
“The party will also look at all the financial transactions to see if they were legally executed,” he added.
Ms Chege echoed his sentiments saying she was being targeted because she had switched camp to the government side.
The fracas is happening just a day after Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga had told the media about a raid at Jubilee headquarters on Wednesday February 15.
