Wednesday, May 24, 2023Kenya Kwanza and Azimio Bipartisan dialogue representatives, clashed on the principle of priority of issues at hand.

Yesterday Tuesday May 23, the Azimio la Umoja side announced that the talks may not continue for about seven days as they deliberate on the way forward.

The announcement was made by both Lawyer Otiende Amollo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna both who called off the talks citing insincerity from the part of government.

“We have had to suspend the Bipartisan dialogue after we could not persuade our friends from KK to concede to some common-sense interim measures.

“Lowering of the cost of Unga, preservation of the Election Servers, suspension of IEBC reconstitution, for them to leave Jubilee alone. These are necessary in our view in order to safeguard the outcome of the talks. We hope sense shall prevail,” Sifuna Tweeted.

And on Wednesday May 24, the Kenya Kwanza Bipartisan Team explained why a parliamentary dialogue with Azimio La Umoja, under former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, collapsed.

Nominated Senator, Esther Okenyuri, in an official statement released hours later, disclosed that Azimio wanted to bring some other issues first; instead of looking into the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC selection panel, as a priority.

The Senator therefore said, the opposition came with illogical demands as opposed to how things should be done.

“The Kenya Kwanza side considered the issue of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel to be the most urgent.

“On the other hand, the Azimio side preferred to prioritise the preservation of the IEBC servers,” Okenyuri detailed why the parliamentary dialogue collapsed for the umpteenth time.

Kenya Kwanza noted that, according to their deliberations, the election server issue could not have preceded the reconstitution of the IEBC selection panel.

Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya coalition has also warned the government against interfering with Jubilee Party management.
