Monday, August 21, 2023 –Kenya Kwanza politicians have continued criticizing Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba over his incompetency and character.
On Twitter, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei pointed out how Namwamba has continued to mismanage the sports docket that should be naturing fresh talent in the country.
Supporting Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah’s sentiments in Parliament, Cherargei said CS Namwamba had started misusing the sports ministry by benefiting his friends and relatives.
“Tonight I echo sentiments of Hon. Ichung’wah Majority Leader National assembly that Cs Ababu continues to mismanage into oblivion our beloved sports.
“How can ministry officials fly first class with their girlfriends to Olympics Budapest, Hungary at the expense of our athletes? Our female athletes being exploited sexually and economically! Parliament must summon CS sports to avert disastrous mismanagement of our sports,” Cherargei charged.
This is after the Majority Leader took-on Namwamba for using State power to benefit close friends instead of serving the country, equally.
According to Ichung’wah, the Sports CS had intensified a culture of bulldozing helpless citizens with traffic sirens while forgetting to deliver on his job description.
“You were not made a minister to fly flags in the street and bulldoze you war through traffic with Subaru escorts – MPs slam CS Ababu Namwamba for ignoring athletes,” Ichung’wah said in Parliament.
Their sentiments coming a few months after President William Ruto said the CS for Sports wanted a different docket but he(Ruto) decided to appoint him in the Sports Ministry.
Ababu has been at the center of social media controversy especially on the constitution of Talanta Hela initiative.
In June 2023, the CS revoked the appointments of Carol Radul, Dennis Itumbi, Azziad Nasenya, Daniel Ndambuki and others in the Talanta Hela council and technical committees.
Through a Gazette Notice on Friday, the CS revoked the appointments he had made earlier in the wake of the controversy surrounding the members in the council.
