Adani Group has released a statement, terming allegations made by the U.S Department of Justice and the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission against its directors as baseless.
In a statement seen by Kenyawide.com, Adani says it will be seeking all legal recourse against what the U.S has reported of them.
“The allegations made by the U.S Department of Justice and the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of Adani Green are baseless and denied.
“The charges in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless until proven guilty. All possible legal recourse will be sought,” Adani legal document read in part.
It defended its business engagements globally saying it has always upheld and is steadfastly committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance, transparency and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions of its operations.
“We assure all stakeholders, partners and employees that we are always a law abiding organization, fully compliant with all laws,” Adani stated.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, addressing Parliamentary Committee, confirmed that the Adani-KETRACO deal is still on despite Gautam Adani facing fraud charges in the U.S, assuring that due diligence was conducted before engaging the Indian businessman.
“The question is, could this emerging report have any effect to the delivery of this project? We can’t tell and we don’t want to engage in speculations,” stated CS Wandayi.
The Energy CS further noted that there has been no cases of bribery and irregularities on government engagement with Adani Group.
