Sunday, December 26, 2021 –A third Covid-19 injection will be given to Kenyans who already took their initial jabs in the ongoing vaccination exercise countrywide.
In an official statement released on Christmas Day by the Ministry of Health, every Kenyan will get a booster vaccine jab to reinforce what they already have. The exercise will be kicking off six month later.
The announcement was made just hours after the country recorded a spike in the virus spread raising concerns from the government.
Ministry of Health is grappling with the rate at which citizens are partaking the available vaccine. It had to make unusual directives requiring every adult to provide proof of vaccination before accessing public/private services.
Current records from the Ministry of Health have confirmed that only 14 percent of Kenyans have since been vaccinated.
Citizen Digital reported on Sunday December 26 that there is an increasing detected number of the new Omicron coronavirus variant with 33 percent positive cases recorded.
Ministry of health has also ordered children above 15 years to be vaccinated with Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine which has been deemed safe for under age.
Adults however are getting the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
