Monday, March 18, 2024 –Eleven students perished in an ugly accident involving Kenyatta University bus in Voi Town.
The eleven were confirmed dead in an accident involving the school bus where police said the school bus collided with a truck at Maungu area.
The police report further revealed that 42 students who suffered major and minor injuries got admitted to various hospitals in Voi.
Furthermore, 5 people died today, 18 injured in another accident between matatu and a tractor in Bomet County.
Accident took place at Kimugul on Olenguruone-Silibwet Road. Area police said the driver of the PSV rammed a tractor.
Elsewhere, several people were feared dead after a matatu heading to Migori from Rongo collided with a Lory at Kuja bridge.
The number of accidents have since gone on a rise around the country.
Yesterday, CS Kipchumba Murkomen promised to do everything possible to improve the safety of all school transport system.
“While the Government, through the NTSA and police, works tirelessly to enhance road safety, it’s crucial for drivers and all road users to take personal responsibility and exercise caution at all times. Our school drivers must observe traffic rules and be extra careful when transporting our children. Let’s work together to prevent road deaths,” he announced.
He said this while at the Kapsabet Boys High School to condole with the community following the tragic loss of a teacher and a student in an earleur bus accident on Saturday March 16.
