Thursday, September 8, 2022 –New Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has kicked off his Senate job on a high note after lecturing his Homa Bay counterpart Moses Kajwang on the floor.
Making his political comeback from the 5-year long colds, the ‘bullfighter’ registered his presence in the House by taking-on Kajwang who had called for the adjournment of the sitting after their candidate Kalonzo Musyoka abruptly pulled out of the speaker’s race.
The vocal UDA Party Kakamega lawmaker told off Mr. Kajwang that there was no such standing orders to allow immature postponements to take place.
“Well. I can see the attempt by Moses Kajwang’ to suspend the sitting of this House through a Standing Order. If indeed you want to suspend the sitting, follow protocol.
“Probably those are Standing Orders of trading fish and so on and so forth,” Khalwale told Kajwang who hails from the Lakeside.
This saw several Azimio-allied leaders take immediate issue with him calling upon the session’s Speaker to throw him out for lack of decorum.
But this could not go far as Khalwale came down and continued addressing the floor by reminding Kajwang that men should not be taking issue with small matters.
“Mr. Speaker, It would be wrong for us to attempt to suspend the Senate sitting. Let us proceed to elect the speaker,” Mr. Khalwale added.
Today Thursday September 8 saw both Houses – the Senate and National Assembly – elect their House leaderships; in particular speakers and their deputies.
