Sunday, November 13, 2022 –Ex-Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has officially quit active politics after losing in the recent senatorial race for Makueni County.
Mr. Kibwana, who has been in service for over 30 years, on Saturday November 13 took to his official pages to announce to the public that he was done with vying for any elective position.
He seized the opportunity to also thank his supporters and especially people from Makueni County for having faith in his leadership.
The Azimio politician also took a minute to mention his colleagues, students as well as close associates for having stood with him throughout his tenure in office.
Without revealing why he had decided to throw in the towel, the lawyer who was part of the William Ruto’s legal minds in the 2022 presidential petition, indicated that he was ready to remain at home and attend to other family matters.
“Today I announced that I have quit elective politics after serving the people of Makueni Constituency (2002-07) and Makueni County (2013-22), and 30 years of public service. Thanks be to God, my former students, co-workers, and those I served,” he stated.
Those who had a privilege to read his farewell statement had varied concerns with a larger section wishing him well away from politics.
“Remain of good cheer. Your footprints in the legal profession, public service and politics will forever twinkle in the galaxy of our nation’s history. Now write your memoir, Prof. We await,” renowned political commentator Javas Bigambo stated.
After losing in the recent elections, Mr. Kibwana would quickly move to the side of William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza which had emerged victorious.
Many would then read that he was eyeing to be appointed by Ruto in the new government; but sadly, this failed to take place since Ruto has already filled top vacancies in his government.
