Tuesday, February 7, 2023 –Electricity supplier Kenya Power has announced plans to dispose at least 200o fossil powered vehicles so that to bring on board the electric ones.
This new plan, according to the utility provider, will see the them buy electric cars as well as retrofitting electric engines on existing fleet.
This will help bolster company’s mobility and efficiency in its service delivery amid changes in the way the world is doing business.
Acting Managing Director Eng. Geoffrey Muli made this announcement during the opening session of the inaugural e-mobility conference – an event bringing together all stakeholders from the private and public sector.
He divulged that the utility provider has already allocated a whopping sh 40 million for the new power cars that will start arriving in the country soon.
KPLC will also use part of the funds above to put up three electric vehicle charging stations in Nairobi city.
Additionally, Kenya Power will also set up 15 electric motorcycle swapping and charging points at existing petrol stations in Nairobi and other major cities like Kisumu.
