Sunday, July 30, 2023 –Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade and Industry Moses Kuria has commended the Ruto-Raila talks, to start soon.
The now humbled Kuria has described the Raila-Ruto talks as long overdue and which will stabilize the economy after a prolonged back and forth between the government and the opposition.
Today Monday July 31, the CS welcomed the move to hold talks saying it will foster development and growth of the economy.
“The resumption of bipartisan talks is good news for investments and the economy in general. Violence is not the way to resolve political differences. It’s time to pull together as a nation with a strong government and even stronger opposition to keep us in check.
“To my bosses President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, you are on the right side of history. All Kenyans are behind you for as long as we do not create another mongrel like the nusu mkate confusion,” Mr Kuria said.
Kuria’s sudden U-turn on his earlier stand means Ruto’s hardliners had started accepting that the dialogue between government and the opposition was now inevitable.
Most of President William Ruto’s friends had faulted attempts by Raila to push for any form of dialogue. They claimed that the talks could be Odinga’s hidden plan to enter their government through another Handshake similar to what happens with Uhuru Kenyatta following the disputed 2017 polls.
CS Kuria was recently avoided by trade representees from the United States of America U.S.A who had come in to meet President Ruto.
The reports confirmed that Kuria was not allowed in the meeting held at the Statehouse because of his running mouth.
President Ruto, in the company of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, would go on with the meeting.
Kuria’s admission of the talks makes him part of the growing list of politicians in government who have agreed with their boss decision to meet and talk with the opposition
Today Monday morning, Kapsaret Member of Parliament MP Oscar Sudi urged their supporters to remain calm saying talks with the opposition will not stop them from delivering.
