Sunday, September 4, 2022 –The seven-judge bench is currently preparing a final ruling on the Raila Odinga-Martha Karua presidential petition which it has to deliver tomorrow Monday September 5.
The seven judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome retired back to a private location where they are supposed to deliberate on the best judgment that will see President-elect William Ruto’s win validated of annulled.
This is following a rigorous 3-day long court hearing exercise that ended on a climax on Friday September 2 afternoon.
Deputy Chief Judge Philomena Mwilu said they had worked as a team and hoped they will make good judgment on the matter.
“We work as a team here. We divide roles. We consider ourselves equals. None of us has veto power but of course, we have a team leader. Pray for us as we undertake the next phase,” she said in her final remarks.
“Pray that we shall have a very high sense of discernment and that we shall return to Kenyans a judgment not less than what they expect,” she said on Friday after winding up the hearings.
And yesterday Saturday September 3, Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa told off President-elect William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade for praising IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati despite the fact that the court was yet to render their judgment on the matter.
“Those of you who have been praising Chebukati that he is a hero, that he did miracles for you, the jury is still out. On Monday, we will know if Chebukati is a hero or a villain,” the Defense CS stated.
The DAP- Party patron said Monday September 5 will be a turning point for the prolonged politics of deceit in this country.
