Sunday, February 4, 2024 -Lawyer Ekuro Aukot has pointed out how President William Ruto is quoting wrong articles of the Constitution so that to defend the controversial housing project.
Taking to his Twitter now called X platform on Saturday February 3 evening, Lawyer Aukot said, Ruto quoted a section instead of the article.
As a renowned lawyer and politician, Aukot noted that, in Kenya, the Constitution does not have sections. This changed to articles in the 2010 promulgated Constitution.
He, therefore, challenged the head of State, Ruto, to spare some time and read the Constitution.
“President @WilliamsRuto, please find time and read the Constitution of Kenya. It does not have sections, especially that “s.25” you’re referring to.
“Our constitution has articles. Art. 25 is the limitation clause on human rights. Has nothing to do with housing. I know you opposed the constitution but you swore to “respect, uphold and protect it”. Soma Katiba boss,” he added.
During his recent tour in Bungoma County, Ruto quoted the Constitution, in particular ‘section 25’, which he claimed mandates him to explain the housing challenges in the country.
On that note he reaffirmed his commitment to make sure the housing project continues across the country.
He ordered all contractors, suppliers and workers to resume work, immediately.
