Sunday, July 4, 2021 -Nairobi based lawyer John Khaminwa who recently issued an earth-shattering Court submission against the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Bill has fired back at the State.
Reacting just a day after people believed to be police officers having visited his city offices for unknown reasons, Khaminwa termed such efforts to silence him as a waste of time and which will not stop him from defending the Constitution.
“I stand by what I said at the Court of Appeal… what I said was truthful. These two individuals, I got the impression, came here to intimidate me and to take advantage of what I said in court against me in the matter of BBI, “Khaminwa stated.
In his recent Court of Appeal submission, the veteran lawyer described President Uhuru Kenyatta as a man who doesn’t deserve court respect since he doesn’t have clean hands.
“When you have a president who is not obeying court orders and demeaning judges before the public this court must stand firm and say to him No we shall not hear you, we will not give you orders,” Khaminwa submitted.
“While he was in Kisumu during Madaraka Day he made certain remarks about judges, he failed to gazette two judges involved in this case at the High Court Justice George Odunga and Justice Joel Ngugi,” Khaminwa said.
For those two reasons, Mr. Khaminwa pleaded with the Appellate court to stand firm and give the pro-BBI team a complete deaf ear.
And the following day on Saturday July 3, Mr. Khaminwa reported that two men had visited his city offices to intimidate him over his firm remarks in court.
