Friday, August 18, 2023 –Just minutes after his church was delisted from operating in the country, Pastor Ezekiel Odero has moved to the High Court.

Through his lawyer Danstan Omari, on Friday August 18, Odero gave government a 90 day ultimatum to re-register his Kilifi-based church – New Life International Church.

He has asked the court to direct the Attorney General to intervene in the matter within a period of 90-days failure to which he goes for more prayers.

Lawyer Omari, who filed an urgent application today Friday afternoon, said his client wants this matter concluded as fast as possible and to secure orders that bars the State, the police or any other agency from interfering with his ministry any other time.

“It’s suspicious. It’s a clear manifestation against Pastor Ezekiel. Notices to close have never been served. No notice to show cause has been issued as provided by the rules as required by the constitution,” Lawyer Danstan Omari claimed.

Omari also used the opportunity to assure Newlife Prayer Centre and Church followers that he will do whatever he can to restore normalcy in church.

Odero has also asked both the Inspector of Police Japhet Koome as well as the Registrar of Societies to guarantee him and his followers safety.

Odero’s multi-million church was today de-listed from the list of churches operating in the country after it was recently linked to money laundering and cultism.

Five other preachers were also affected in a move meant to weed out rogue religious entities in the country.
