Thursday, September 29, 2022 –Exiled Lawyer Miguna Miguna has warned the new President of Kenya William Ruto against turning into a dictator.
The outspoken lawyer, on Thursday September 29, indicated that he will only support the new head of State on matters that stick to the rule of law and should he(Ruto) veer off the rail, he will be criticized with the full force as usual.
“If President William Ruto wants to act as a monarch then he should be scared of me. If Ruto wants to be governed by the rule of law and the principles of democracy and governance in a way that is fair, then Miguna is his buddy and ally,” Miguna told a local channel.
The Canadian-based lawyer also used the opportunity to dig into the thorny historic issue of extra -judicial killings in the country.
“CONGRATULATIONS to the men and women President @WilliamsRuto has nominated to the Cabinet. It’s refreshing team. Let’s remind them that Kenyans need and DESERVE services, employment, food, housing, healthcare, education and an end to abuse of power and extrajudicial killings,” Muguna added.
On his part, close ally of William Ruto Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi also reminded the new president to address the issue of extra-judicial killings in the country.
“President William Ruto is his first two weeks in office is keeping to ALL his pre-election promises. But he hasn’t said a word about the hundreds of Kenyans that were extra-judicial killed by the police, the army and the National Intelligence Service(NIS)…we are waiting!!!” Ahmednasir urged.
Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Senator for Narok, Ledama Ole Kina challenged the new administration to focus their energy on fighting hopelessness in the country.
“Mr President, most Kenyans are suffering from PRS (Poverty Related Syndromes) due to the drought, high fuel prices & lack of jobs! I want to hear what you have in mind as short term & long solutions for dealing with PRS when you officially open Parliament ok?” Ledama noted.
Ruto picked his members of the Cabinet on Tuesday September 27 at an event held at Statehouse Kenya, a move which citizens think will quickly start to deliver as promised to them during the campaigns.
