Thursday, September 7, 2023 –Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Central Organisation of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, today Wednesday September 7, sharply differed with each other over President William Ruto’s performance.
It started immediately Atwoli sent his congratulatory messages to President William Ruto over the successfully held Africa Climate Summit at the Kenyatta International Convention Center KICC.
Mr. Atwoli had observed that, under the organised leadership of President William Ruto, the Summit ran smoothly and to the satisfactory of the world, for three straight days.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity to thank President Ruto for the job-well-done during the three days at the KICC where several heads of State had converged.
“On behalf of Kenyan workers allow me to Congratulate President William Ruto for the well organised Africa Climate Summit. Under the leadership of President Ruto, Nairobi is increasingly becoming the multilateral capital of Africa,” remarked Mr. Atwoli.
Mr. Atwoli added that Dr. Ruto had set high standards for other African nations after he(Ruto) managed to host the thousands of delegation in Nairobi.
“Having been going to Geneva, Switzerland, to attend many sessions of ILO for nearly three decades now, I am proud of the transformative work by the President in redefining and repositioning Nairobi’s place in Africa,” Atwoli also added.
This remark irked Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina who took a subtle swipe at Atwoli for being a survival hypocrite so that to get the attention of the head of State.
“You really know how to survive, don’t you? How is the farm at Ildamat? I will stop by on my way to South Africa and we can have a cup of tea! I will bring the milk,” Senator Ledama responded.
But Mr. Atwoli challenged the ODM Senator to accept that William Ruto was the president of Kenya and that, so far, he had shown commitment to deliver to the people who elected him.
“Your views notwithstanding, give it to the President for a job well done. I have cows, but I am made to understand that you are in the milk business. If your milk is good, I’m a potential customer. I’m a just man,” Atwoli chided.
Days ago, Atwoli and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga locked horns in Vihiga where they had flown to for a burial service.
As Atwoli took issue with Raila’s refusal to recognize President Ruto, Raila responded by asking the unionist to focus of representing the workers most of who are not living from hand to mouth.
Her told Atwoli that dining with the head of State was a betrayal to the workers of this country.
