Monday, January 17, 2022 –A total of 30 Governors across the country have endorsed ex-Premier Raila Amollo Odinga for the presidency 2022.
Led by Council of Governors Chairman Martin Wambora and his Laikipia counterpart Ndiritu Mureithi, the governors today Monday January 17 converged in Naivasha to make clear their intentions to support Raila Odinga for Presidency under the newly formed Azimio la Umoja Movement.
26 governors were present as 4 send their support on phone promising to support Odinga upto the ballot. They all promised to sell Odinga’s agenda cross their county.
“This has been a consultative meeting between the governors and the fifth as we assured him of our support and discuss the way forward with regards to the Presidential elections. There were 30 of us present and a couple of us who were absent with apology,” Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Mureithi read the statement.
Delivering the statement from the governors, Mureithi further noted that the discussions were based on a number of issues among them support for devolution and people centered campaigns as exercised by Odinga.
The leaders also pointed out the fact Azimio la Umoja was a peaceful movement which is committed to cohesion of the nation.
Governor Charity Ngilu seized the opportunity to affirm their willingness to champion Azimio gospel at the grassroots level.
“We will go out of our way to ensure Raila Odinga is the president in August. There’s as danger in electing Ruto as the president as he has always opposed the Kenyan constitution,” Ngilu noted.
Other governors who attended the Naivasha function are: Anne Kananu- Nairobi, Wycliffe Oparanya – Kakamega, Amos Nyaribo – Nyamira, James Nyoro – Kiambu, Francis Kimemia – Nyandarua, Joseph Ole Lenku –Kajiado among many others.
